Essay about why students are so quiet and passive in classes

When professors gave lectures to students, almost of them said that Korean students are so quiet and passive in classes.

I think the first reason why this happens is the atmosphere. I think atmosphere promoting discussion is important. Not only Korean students but also foreign students are also passive during class. This is not because by students but by atmosphere. Professors are also resposible for making the atmosphere. They must not strongly require answers from students. They have to induce answers naturally from students. Students also have to understand the purpose of questions of professor and have to participate actively. If these situations are cooperated well, the class will be activated by them.

I think the second reason why students, particularly in unist, are quiet is that the rule of UNIST. In UNIST, students and professors have to use English during class. Until high school, all students use Korean and just learnd English in Enlish class. Students who were familiar with Korean might not be adapted to English class well since they have entered this UNIST. Students, including me, don't have confidence to speak English fluently. They, of course, want to participate class well but they don't have confidence to satisfy answering the question from professor. I think students have to raise their confidence. Then, class activity will be well done than before!

I think 'Korean students are so quiet and passive in classes' this sentence is prejudice. In UNIST, there are lots of foreign students. They are good at speaking English and listening to English than Koreans. But they are not always active. They are also passive during class. Rather, Korean students are sometimes more acitve than them during class. Throught this situation, I think the reason why Korean students are so quiet and passive is not becuase of students itself. 

Threre are lots of passive students but also there are some acitve students. If particular acitve students answerd well about questions, rest of students think that they don't have to participate class well becasue that smart and active students will answer the question. This complacent attitude spoils the students' participation and activity. Students have to change their thoughts.

The reason why students have to participate class is not to gain the score but to be helpful to ourselves(students). By participating class activities, we can gain more knowlegde from professors and students. Also, students can exchange their thought between them and gain more knowledge frome them.  

I, also student, didn't do above things I write. I want to participate class well, but I don't have confidence. For myself, I will participate well during class.
