What is “reality” in science? -20111355 Eunseok Yoo
Reality is all situations that actually exist and can be measured by some materials even though it is very small. In science, especially in biology, reality is positive results of experiment that can be confirmed by the materials, not the simulation. If two proteins interact in organism, we can reveal the interaction using some methods like immunoprecipitation. It has limitation that current technology may not be able to reveal the interaction because the interaction is weak or the proteins is not soluble. I think the computer is just tool for analyzing the reality. So, it is not reality. But the simulation from the computer widens more possibility to find reality. The reality in science is ambiguous because there could be error in results that have already been found. Biologists have to find the reality of organism regardless of the methods such as molecular work and computational work.
