Colon cancer in korean patient.

Koreans have high oppotunity to have colon cancer. if westernization dietary habits is reason for the high rate of colon cancer, why korean have more high rate than western people?

In some european, Jews of Eastern European descent (Ashkenazi Jews) have one of the highest colorectal cancer risks of any ethnic group in the world. Several gene mutations leading to an increased risk of colorectal cancer have been found in this group. The most common of these gene changes, called the I1307K APC mutation,

So i tried to found the specific mutation in korean.

First i try to find important genes in colon cancer

In this pathway of colon cancer the APC gene have critical role and ~55% of colon cancer patient have mutation of this gene. so i find to case study of korean and find interesting things. (what is APC gene? and why the korean exon3 mutation is unique?  APC gene

Referred from Sang Hyuk Cho, et al:APC Mutation Spectra in Sporadic Colon Cancer Tissue among Korean. Annals of Surgical Treatment and Research. 76(3), 2009.3, 159-167

In Korean colon cancer patien the APC gene exon 3 mutation is more than half of patient. Studies before this paper the APC gene has mutation almost in exon 15 because in exon 15 is long and have MCR(Mutation Clustering Region). So this can be interesting topic for studying colon cancer specific in korean
