Purpose

Genome project in Ulsan is heading to develop and structure the ten-thousand human genomes for the first start. Already in one or two years before, UK and USA started to sequence million human genomes for each country. Thus we are going to follow up by sequencing step by step, as ten-thousands, hundred-thousands, and million human genomes of Korean.

Through building the huge data for Korean genome, it will be possible to apply in numeral field of medical science and the result would be tremendous.

 

Cooperation, Co-working of 4 institutes

The Genome project in Ulsan starts with the cooperation of UNIST, Ulsan university hospital, and mayor of Ulsan city. As the volunteered samples are collected in Ulsan university hospital, the samples are kept in genome bank safely and sent to UNIST to be analyzed. Then, the analyzed sequences will be used to personalized diagnostics and various medical applications. And the huge data will be commercialized by companies and active research and application will keep going further.
