-Question: How can we measure length of telomere?

using FISH, it is accurate and by using light intensity, we can measure.

My question: Can we get absolute value for length?

We have control to compare, so it may measure absolutely.

-Because it is difficult to target cancer gene and cancer is multi-step disease.

Therefore, it is difficult to cure cancer.

But by using single cell sequencing, we can find potential drug for cancer

-How many nucleotides are shortened in each cell division?

Original telomere length: 15,000 nt

Remaining telomere length after cell division: 5,000 nt

Telomere length shortened by cell division: 10,000 nt

Therefore, 10,000 nt / 50~70 (usual division of somatic cells) = 150~200 nt

-Mouse has 5 times longer telomere length than human, but mouse dies faster than human. Why?

 Do they lose telomere faster?

Mouse have many offspring and short lifespan.

Human have lots of repair system, but mice not.

-Is aging a disease?

Yes, I think it is a disease.

-Darwin vs Lamark

-Old vs young genome
