According to the SELF method, Lee KyoungJun(LKJ) graded himself with his own evaluation criteria which are based on tangible evidences and rational logic. Detail score of each standard depends on how much LKJ achieved the goals of the genomic course from his works. The syllabus slide that describes the goal of the genomic course is given above to be clear with the objectivity.</p> <p><strong>Assessment</strong></p> <p>&nbsp;</p> <p><strong>Homework and Self-study (25/25)</strong></p> <p>Homework was given on September 29<sup>th</sup>, 2017, which was defining 30 biological words with student&rsquo;s own language. The purpose of the homework was to make students train themselves to be clearly aware of the meaning of the scholarly words, which is necessary process to become a scientist and LKJ successfully finished the homework.</p> <p>Moreover, LKJ made self-study folder on his Bio-wiki page and arranged what he learned on his own. Self-study of LKJ about several sequencing method</p> <p>&nbsp;</p> <p>&nbsp;</p> <p><strong>Essay and Presentation (42/50)</strong></p> <p>The essay is written with the topic that LKJ was curious about during self-study. Moreover, LKJ gave presentation totally based on his essay on December 15<sup>th</sup>, 2017. The fact that LKJ worked on sincere question arisen in his thought proves that LKJ successfully learned how to learn and has critical view on scientific phenomena and the function of materials. But to look at works of LKJ thoroughly, they are lack of active research since LKJ didn&rsquo;t conduct any experiment about putting his thought into practice. So it is hard to say that LKJ perfectly achieved the goal of the course when it comes to essay.</p> <p>As a result, LKJ deducted 8points(1/3 of 25, the max point of Essay) by lack of performance of active research in essay and gets 42points out of 50points in the &lsquo;Essay and Presentation&rsquo; section.</p> <p><img src="file:///C:\Users\이경준\AppData\Local\Temp\msohtmlclip1\01\clip_image010.png" style="height:270px; width:519px" /></p> <p>Figure 5. Essay of LKJ on Bio wiki</p> <p>&nbsp;</p> <p><strong>SELF (25/25)</strong></p> <p>SELF of LKJ is not just the assessment of LKJ but also an indicator about how well LKJ achieved the attitude of the scientist since it has to be written in a scientific way as well. In SELF, the assessment should be taken as a scientific claim so that it should contain the evidences and logic. On this paper, LKJ claimed the evaluation criteria based on tangible works as the evidence and elaborately scored in logical way by referring goals of the genomic course which is officially stated. Objective conversion from letter to point.</p> <p>LKJ gets 92points from the assessment. To correspond it to the letter grade, LKJ made letter grade table which shows the most objective way of conversion. In UNIST, 4.3 is the perfect score and deducted by 0.3 when the sign is changed, and deducted by 0.4 when the letter is changed as shown above. Then it is reasonable to convert 0.3 into 6.98points and 0.4 into 9.30points when 4.3 and 0 are set as 100points and 0points.
