* Topics

 - What is genomics?

: Genomics is gene + omic (study totality of something). Genomics analyze the structure and function of genomes and make the genetic mapping by using datafication and data analyzing.

 - What is origin of genomics?

: The term genomics was coined by Tom Roderick, a geneticist at the Jackson Laboratory in 1986.

The most important improvement of DNA sequencing was established from Frederick Sanger and his colleagues (Sanger method).

 - What is future of genomics?

: Attribute to genomics, we can sequencing our genome and we know about our latent disease. Based on this, genetic personalized medicines will be produced. Moreover, rare species and human gene information can be stored to conserve or replicate.

 - How can we (ordinary person, not genomic trades) research the genomics?

: We can use the genome analysis enterprise, such as 23andMe, Microgen, gene for good, and so on.

In today's class, special lecturer was invited and I could learn about genome market trend, 23andMe, and SNPedia.

After this class, I thought about personal genome analysis survice.

Although I have enough money to pay for personal genome analysis survices, I will not use this survice until 40.

I don't want to be afraid and feel uneasy when I view my analysis results and find hereditary severe disease gene at a young age.

However, after 40 years old, personal genome analysis survices will be very useful because I can prepare for the disease.

I divide and change the consider of the personal genome analysis survices on a age basis because young people are relatively healthier than old people, so old people are susceptible to disearse.
