Anopheles gambiae

A gambiae (mosquito) is responsible for most of the cases of malaria in Africa. 
The insect transfers the parasite that causes malaria from person to person through mosquito bites. The global fight against malaria has been hindered by the growing number of mosquitoes that are resistant to insecticides.
