Essay about why Korean students are quiet

 By discussion, while sharing individual’s think and viewpoints, people try to get better ideas. And many creative ideas are made from those conversations. So in academy, people gather and have discussion to improve their ideas. But there was a article about Korean people do not talk and present their ideas. This could be serious problem at international academic research. If we do not share our ideas with others, we could make serious errors in research. To avoid this, we should figure out the reason why Korean people are quiet.

I think the major cause why Koreans are quiet is that they are got used to it. From the elementary school, which children start education in earnest, they meet classroom with lecture formation, which is not proper for discussion. Desks are all toward to front, where teacher stands and gives lecture. It is hard for students to look at each other and share their ideas. This was normal form of classroom until now. This form is not suited and comfortable for discussion classes. Not only the classroom structure, but also the atmosphere of classroom induced by that causes no question. This situation keeps maintained until high school. So Korean students are got used to lecture form of class during 12 years. Because of these cultures, it is hard to change the attitude of class suddenly from lecture to discussion.

Even if many universities and companies are trying to encourage discussion, it is hard for students to adapt swiftly because of experience accumulated for long time. So to make students active in discussion, many changes in class format should change from early education. Once students are got used to discussion style, they could stretch their brilliant ideas with others and could make amazing discovery.

With the progress of biotechnology, the time and expense needed for analyzing human genome are decreasing fast. This development brought lots of changes in various fields of life. Especially in market, people made some industry which provides individual genome analyzing services. They get customers’ genome and analyze them about which diseases are possible for them. This could bring one-on-one clinic services. But there are many debates for this service because they deal with very private data. But I think this service could improve the quality of clinical treatment.

The reason why I see this change with positive attitude is that this improvement will definitely help to reduce medical accidents. It is very hard to judge disease just with symptoms which are observed with eyes. And doctors cannot expect the consequences of medicine. Although the medicines have effect on large proportion of people, the genome of people are too variety to target all types of people. Because of the difference on genetic information, same medicine could be poison to someone. So if we could get and analyze the genome data, more appropriate medicines could be provided. And also individual clinical services could be possible. So I think the prospect of this field is bright.

Because of the possibility of effective individual clinical treatment, I think this change will improve our life. But also there is problem in security. This private data could be used for serious crime if there is no appropriate security system. So to spread this genome services, proper and safe guard system will be needed.
