Waht is genomics?

Abstract

I will suggest my own definition of genomics by considering Jong’s concept of life and relationship between organisms.

Introduction

In bioinformatics class, professor defined life as his own way. He said life is set of switches. Switches can change life sequentially by making signals. Based on this idea, I can develop idea about relationship between different organisms. Relationship of different each organism can be understood by studying a common feature or some differences of signals which make their life. And we can find this information through each organism’s genome. Through study about each genome of different organisms, we can get new insights about human life.

Genomics is key of our life

Genomics may have key of our better life. It means analysis of genome can give idea to us about answer about problems of our life. Currently, Genomics has applied in many fields such as biomedical science, biotechnology, anthropology, and other social sciences. Because genome contains original information about our behavior, metabolism, or life. For analyzing this many field using genome of human, many people usually get a clue from the different organism’s genome. Because each life between many different organisms may be related in terms of genome. For example, we can get curiosity about Bowhead whale that can live more than 200 years. How can they live longer than human? What is difference between human and Bowhead whale? The answer will be existed in genome. The signals related to longevity such as cell cycle, DNA repair, etc are key which we can get a clue about long life of human. Following professor Jong’s concept, switches that are found in some organisms can change signals and human life itself as we want. So, analysis of genome based on relationship between organisms, that is genomics, can be the key to improve quality of our life.

Conclusion

Our life can be changed sequential signals by switches in genome. To discover the secretes in our life, we analyze other organism’s genomes to get a clue. Based on relationship between organisms in terms of genome or switches, we can discover secrete in life and improve quality of life. Genomics is important key of our life.
