The famous English scientist, naturalist and explorer Charles Darwin was born in February 12, 1809.  His theory of evolution and origin of species is studied in school biology lessons. However, many misconceptions, inaccuracies and myths are associated with Darwin’s name. Let’s first go over the myths that exist at the present time:

Myth 1. Darwin invented the theory of evolution

In fact, the first scientific theory of evolution developed was in the early XIX century by Jean-Baptiste Lamarck. It was his assumption that acquired characteristics are inherited. For example, if an animal eats leaves from tall trees, his neck will be drawn, and each succeeding generation of the neck will be slightly longer than that of their ancestors. Thus, according to Lamarck, giraffes appeared.

Charles Darwin has improved this theory and added to it the concept of "natural selection." According to the theory, the more chances of procreation have individuals with the characteristics and qualities that contribute to the survival most.

Myth 2. Darwin argued that man evolved from apes

The scientist never spoke like that. Charles Darwin suggested that human and monkey can have a common ape ancestor. On the basis of comparative anatomical and embryological research, he was able to show that the anatomical, physiological and developmental characteristics of human and primates representatives are very similar.

Myth 3. Prior to Darwin, scientists have not correlated humans with primates

In fact, the similarity of human and ape was noticed by scientists in the late XVIII century. French naturalist Byufon suggested that people - the descendants of apes and the Swedishscientist Carl Linnaeus applied the man to the category of primates, where we are side by side as a kind of monkey in modern science.

Myth 4. According to Darwin's theory of evolution, the strongest one survives

This myth comes from a misunderstanding of the term "natural selection". According to Darwin, survives not the strongest, but the fittest. Often the simplest organisms are the most "tenacious". This explains why the strong dinosaurs became extinct, and single-celled organisms survived the explosion of the meteorite and the following glacial period.

Some modern biologists say about evolution, whenever the face with a mutation. They clearly support the following syllogism: mutation - the only evolutionary change; all living beings are subject of mutations; therefore, all living beings evolve.

This logic, however, is unacceptable: firstly, its major premise is not obvious and is not universal; secondly, its conclusions do not correspond to the facts. No matter how numerous were mutations, they do not lead to evolution.

Also, it is easy to argue that mutations have no evolutionary significance, since they are limited by natural selection. Lethal mutations lead to the complete disappearance, while others remain as alleles. Human being gives many examples of this: the color of the eyes, the shape of the pinna, dermatoglyphics, hair color and texture, skin pigmentation. Mutants are in all populations, from bacteria to humans. And this can be no doubt.

It is difficult to believe in the timely appearance of mutations that allowed animals and plants get the desired properties. However, Darwin's theory goes even further: each plant, each animal would require thousands and thousands of lucky, favorable changes. Thus, miracles are built into law: events infinitesimal degree of probability cannot occur.

However, Darwin's theory goes even further: each plant, each animal would require thousands of thousands of lucky, favorable changes. Thus, miracles are built into law: infinitesimal degree events of probability always occur.

The gradual evolutionary changes by natural selection occur within existing species so slowly that they can’t be taken into account as the main manifestations of evolution.

In other words, natural selection throughout its length does not improve the chances of species survival, but only keeps it "in a rut", or allows it to adapt to a constantly changing environment

All in all, Darwin's theory is not really reliable due to many reasons what I discussed in this essay. In my point of view, this issue can be controversial and inaccurate in the prospect of religion or any other evidences, however people think and accept it differently, so there is no right answer.
