[ Transcriptomics class ] 

 

# Transcriptome? 

  = set of all mRNA molecules that are produced by the gemone, under specific circumstances in one cell or a population of cells 

  = can vary depending on environmental conditions

     ⇒ reflects genes which are being actively expressed with the exception of mRNA degradation 

Transcriptomics?

  = the study of transcriptome 

  = referred to as expression profiling

  = examines the expression level of mRNAs in a given cell population, often using high-throughput techniques based on DNA microarray technology.
