1.DNA microarray

object : hybridize the DNA or cDNA and compare the quantity of subject.

2.RNA seq

object : cDNA->next generation sequencing

3. NGS

object : fast sequencing

  • Illumina (Solexa) sequencing
  • Roche 454 sequencing
  • Ion torrent: Proton / PGM sequencing
  • SOLiD sequencing

4.Chip seq

object : sequencing the DNA which interact with certain protein

*Friedrich Miescher : identify the DNA and then RNA

Q. I think DNA chip and RNA seq are the methods that measure the quantity of the RNA
is there any method which measures the quality of the RNA
I mean for example the half-life of RNA. (big database?)

=> the correlation btw protein level and RNA level in human is lower that in prokaryote. it is more complicate.

*exercise : change in 30min (RNA which is related with signaling or TF will be a key, not genome), functional protein will be also a key.

Conclusion : sudden environmental change => check RNA!

How fast transcription
